The Elements of Wit is based on an idea from Shakespearean times that says, in addition to our five outer senses (touch, taste, sight, smell, hearing), we have five inner senses called the “wits”. I have called them Intelligence, Instinct, Memory, Reason and Fantasy, and each of my five outfits is a personification of one of them. The collection is contemporary costuming with a historical Elizabethan twist and is based around the idea of a royal court. Intelligence is the queen with a child-like Memory as her lady in waiting. Instinct is her guard and warrior, Reason is a prioress and her advisor and Fantasy is the mischievous and playful jester.
